Conventions of a movie trailer

within movie trailers are repeated conventions that occur in most if not all movie trailers, for example a quick snappy tempo, this is particularly apparent within my chosen movie trailer of "Suicide Squad" by keeping the scenes short and snappy, it reveals little about the film but still lures the audience in. keeping the trailer short also keeps the audiences attention, meaning they don't get bored and loose interest of the product as a whole.

Another convention found within movie trailers is previews of the biggest stars within the film, they usually are composed of a mid shot or a close up. this entices fans of a certain star.

Trailers also use lots of non diegetic sound  this creates both rhythm and mood to the trailer, by keeping the music at a fast tempo push's the trailer to create more ambience towards actions scenes.

Knife throw shot

this was recorded using a sony handheld vide camera, the video camera has multiple functions to allow for ease when recording:

  • zoom
  • flip out 360 degree digital screen display
  • small grip handel
  • touch screen display
  • slide lock shutter over lens
  • small printed icons for each button

our camera was then fitted onto a tripod, the tripod was fully collapsable as well as having multiple other functions:
  • a crank which altered the hight of the camera
  • collapsable two part legs altering the height of the tripod
  • a pan handle
  • tilt pannel allows to add tilt to the camera to create distortion
  • lock system to stop any mistakes regarding tilting panning
